RESTORATIVE ACTION: WHAT AND HOW?
Nkechi Taifa, Esq., movement leader and author of Reparations On fire, How and Why it is Spreading Across America, will speak on the historic, international, andnational contexts for reparative action today, with a special view to her recent testimony before the United Nations in Geneva, Switzerland.

 Rev. Dale Snyder of Bethel AME Church in Pittsburgh, will share how his church used reparative action to get land seized by imminent domain returned to this historic congregation. He will share this model for repair and its possible relevance to Lakeland.

Mr. Corey Shaw, Jr. represents Empower DC, “an organization that advances racial, economic and social justice by investing in the leadership and organized political power of DC’s lowest income residents and communities.” As volunteer Director of Community Engagement and Strategic Planning for the African American Redress Network, Mr. Shaw assists with local level reparations efforts across the United States. He will speak on his organizing efforts for the Barry Farm and Chevy Chase communities in the District of Columbia.

Mayor Daniel Biss of Evanston, Illinois, will share a recorded message of encouragement for Lakeland and College Park from his viewpoint as mayor of a municipality that has successfully achieved some measure of reparative justice.
