International Reparations - Engaging Global Responsibility
The Braxton Institute’s reparations work is rooted in both local and global movements for justice and redress. The transatlantic slave trade was an international system of exploitation, and its legacies continue to shape global inequities. Reparative justice, therefore, must operate within an international framework that acknowledges historical harm and engages shared global responsibility.
2025 — A paper co-authored by Braxton Institute leaders and University of Maryland scholars about their team's collaborative student research initiative in the Lakeland community will be featured at the International Sociological Association Forum in Morocco, positioning local reparative work as a model within global discourse.
